Introduction

My name is Kaylee Toma, and I am a senior at CSUN this semester as an English Literature major. I live with my parents, two younger siblings, two dogs, and two cats in Santa Clarita. When I am not doing schoolwork, I can be found relaxing by reading any type of fiction, spending time with my family, or volunteering in my church’s children's ministry where I babysit the 18-24-month-olds during the service. One interesting fact about me is that I love to travel. My family goes on some sort of road trip every summer, and I have been blessed to be able to travel with them. Our most recent road trip was to the Grand Tetons and Glacier National Park last summer.

Ever since reading the Harry Potter series in elementary school, literature has played a crucial role in my life. From children's books to Classics, reading a wide variety of books has instilled a great appreciation for the written word and the perspectives of life that they convey. As such, dedicating my collegiate academic career to studying the value of literature has been a no-brainer for me and those around me. My ultimate goal in my career is to instill a love of literature in those I am able to teach, whether that be students of my own or, God-willing, any children I may have in the future. I am so excited to grow my understanding of literature in different genres throughout this semester through this blog and interactions in class. Welcome to Love, An English Major!

    1. That's awesome! Do you have any particular places on your bucket list? I would love to travel to Europe at some point in the future.
